phone: 719-337-1918ADVOCACY The caste system of India still thrives and has flourished for over 3,000 years. Considered "Untouchabes," the Dalit represent approximately 25% of the Indian population. The upper castes of India believe the Dalit people are less than human. To have a Dalit's shadow fall upon you is to be contaminated.I have been contaminated by the joy that is reflected in a Dalit child's smile. I have held their infants in my arms, consumed meals in their villages and worshiped together with them in their homes. And while I see desperation in their eyes, I also see a hope and joy that is innate to the innocent mind of a child. Let us love the least of these.It is my prayer that these photos, and more specifically the smiles of these children, might stir the depths in your heart and lead you to advocate for the Dalits in your respective communities.FREE THE DALIT.
